Teodoro Anzellotti 'Erik Satie Compositeur de Musique'

Teodoro Anzellotti
Erik Satie Compositeur de Musique (Winter & Winter 1998)

Music for solo piano written by Erik Satie.
Teodoro Anzellotti: Accordion
[His] life takes a solitary, even ludicrous course. yet he encounters this with irony and distance. He differentiates himself smiling from nonesense. At the same time Satie takes paths into the depths, into the abyss - into the meaning of life. He always remains the pauper who can keep nothing, but always loses, in the end himself - and who thus possibly finds truth.

So here we have Satie's music played on accordion by the Italian 'avant-garde' classical master Anzellotti. And for those who give little credit to the accordion, you should give this a serious listen. Some 'beautiful' Satie music played to perfection by a perfectionist of his craft. You'll hear the complete Sports et Divertissements & Gnossienne's, plus Three Elegant Waltzes By A Pansy & more.
I like it!!!

Squeezorama Lucky - I hope you don't have this one - 'cause it's for you - mein guter Freund.

***Please note that Eugene has 'shared' an Anzellotti/Kagel album for 'us' to have a listen. You will need to see the comments here to find out the necessary details. Thank you Eugene, I for one, am very interested in having the opportunity to hear this interesting album - appreciated.

Sorry about the very small font here, I've tried to fix the html, but I just can't work out where this problem has occured?

Hi MoogPower!

Great blog! Lots of amazing stuff here - real eye-openers, fun and educational!

BTW, does the Junior Kimbrough LP download link still work (without registering and paying for that fairly obscure download site)? I couldn't get it to work properly using the "free" option. Any chance you could repost it? It sounds really interesting...

Thanks,
Dave

MoogPower, I love you!

This absolutely brilliant record by Teodoro was waiting to be ripped and uploaded for some time on my desk - but don't be disappointed that I already have it, now I can think of my next post that will be dedicated to YOU!

It'll be very hard for me, because I don't want to post just some other accordion record by Saluzzi, Klucevsek or Lars Hollmer, which are all superb! I'll go inside myself and will give birth to a special child...

To the record: I came to listen to Erik Satie's piano compositions via Claude Debussy - they share similar moods, but Erik's obviously more obsessed with tricks and mood shifts, whereas Claude tended to be more straight into impressionism.
Think of my astonishment when I saw this record for the first time: ERIK SATIE's beautiful music on my dearest instrument - the ACCORDION! I haven't heard of Anzellotti before this - now there's much more floating around from this guy, I'll see if I can catch other stuff of him...

This comment is long enough, I think. MoogPower, you've done me a big and kind favor of uploading this - now I don't have to make it, and I'm honored from one of the friendliest guys in the blog circle!

Best wishes for your son, and your ear,
yours, Squeezy Lucko ;)

Hola Lucky M Dudorama...well I'm not really disappointed you already have this one - I just should have known. :)

Hhmmm, now Debussy, I have nothing by him & have from what I've heard (not all that much really) thought his music to be sort of neo-romantic & I haven't really like it.

I know that he was a BIG influence on some of the 20C composers that I like, so it might just be I haven't really heard enough of his work or the 'right' pieces.

I do have some Cesar Franck whom I think was a contemporary of Debussy?

Interesting to hear, if I'm reading you correctly that this album was your first taste of Anzellotti? Aaah what a joy it must have been for you!

Your well wishes are appreciated - very kind.

Must get a move on now, but hope to get back here sometime later today.

Cheerio from my side of the world all the way out to you!!

Dear Eugene,
I'll be interested in the Mauricio Kagel record form Winter&Winter! Never heard it. I like the wonderful Mauricio a lot, big sense of humour and a wonderful skill in composing off "the track" (his Exotica for example)!
It seems, MoogPower don't have it - so just drop the link here in the comments, and MP will add it in his post, as a kind of post scriptum.
Highly appreciated!

PS: Dear Herr Ärmel,
I understand - many people think just of Polka and Waltzes and Landler, when they hear the word accordion. Obviously there's much of this stuff around - and not ALL is bad, but most of it. Well - there are a few other things, that you can make with this instrument, too - just a few ... ;)

Mr M Lucky Orang Bandoneon Dudeman, your compilation (not a mix) looks quite delicious & I am certainly looking forward to this special effort & treat from the one & only Squeezeman. I sense your attention to detail is excetional, so not doubt this will just flow from one accordion treat to the next. :)

And interesting to see you have a Paolo Conte track there. I often take out a disc of his & think of posting, but then I feel most peeps will think I'm nuts. I really like the maestro of the Kazoo & have about 6 of his discs. He's quite a personality & has a rather intersting background!

This I'll 'get' sometime this evening; time to go out with my son (he's not so keen on watching me on the computer).

BandosqueezemanPlaying with son yes.....

But today just bought a new printer/Scanner Cannon all in one; funky 'cause I finally have a printer that will directly print on CD's.

My old scanner is good, but needs to run on one of my old (very) computers b/c it requires a scssi connection (ya old technology).

Anyway, just finished cleaning up puter to have room to install software (leaving only 28mb space) & was so excited only to find the printer didn't come with a USB cable.

I have all kinds of cables (i.e cupboards full), but nothing I can find here that is USB-USB, damn will have to buy something tomorrow.

And whilst I got the printer I also got a 40gb 'outboard' (mini for laptop) extra hard-drive.

If I get a few hrs space in the upcoming days will be able to clear a lot of this 'mess' up here & get things going back to normal once more.

Looking forwar to this Bandosqueezeman & definitely appreciate & understand the time & effort you have put toward this compilation (not a mix).

Sublime material - I know this just from the names.

Dank Herr M.

I must spend too much time working, listening to music, getting out & about, listening to music, spending time with my family, listening to music sleeping, listening to music etc & just NOT ENOUGH time in computer land.

I can see that things are gonna have to change 'round here - I am losing touch!

Bonjour, MoogPower!

Do you still speak with me? I'm really sorry that you have been SO offended with my closing of the M-blog - nonono, I know you're a humourous chap, and I sure will flush the M-blog down the toilet!

I'm really happy to close this chapter, I'm not joking! 3 blogs is at least 1 too much.
I hope you can forgive me - here's kinda small 'reparation' of the damage I made, something for the wee hours of the night ;)

Stay like you are, mein guter Freund, and don't fumble around with this tricky html-stuff!!! ;) [give me sign and I'm all ears]

Hallo (in my best German accent) Mr Lucky,

Yes, I'm glad you can sense my humour, often sarcastic, but not in a harmful way, I think you know this well.

I know running 3 blogs must have been a considerable drain on you & have appreciated your wonderful efforts.
M was unique, it's a shame it's gone, but such is life in bloggerland.

Oooh a surprise I see...I get a little shy in terms of surprises, but am looking forward to seeing/hearing what it could be. Thank you!

Yes, I have not forgotten about this tricky html stuff. In some ways I have a fair understanding, but in others it might aswell be an obscure statistical equation. If I can learn the formulae then I am usually A-ok.

I have not forgotten about your kind offer, just 'bogged' down for the moment. My 'new' 1/3 slower internet connection is a real drag!

Auf Wiedersehen.

(You see...I know you can tell I've been to Germany; my vast grasp of your language must give this away).

Sure nuff, Darling! --->(c;)<

The other day you told me to play some Klezmer for my partner - AND I DID! I don't know how long, but at least I have done it, and I told her, where the idea came from - from the Sunshine Coast in MoogPowerland!

The following day I wore my Chris Knox T-Shirt and felt completely happy! I know now (cause you wrote it lately!) that Knox was in the Tall Dwarfs, but the shirt was just a present from a music maniac - I never heard Knox' or the Dwarfs' music, just Knox on one track of Barbara Manning's "In New Zealand", which is quite beautiful.

Have you really been to Germany once? What for, holidays? Business?

I have two other small questions
1) Your Avatar looks like a detail from one of HR Giger's nightmarish paintings - is it?
2) What in heaven is a 'NOS product'? I always wondered, my dictionary doesn't tell me anything about it, and the web comes with things I just don't get. So what 'product' do you present here? Something for the NOSE (with a special smell like perfume?)? Some NO's for the big recording companies?
No more questions -> will rip the Manning now -> more M's after the dying of M? <- hoo-hoo! ;)

At 2:24 pm, October 06, 2006, Blogger MoogPower said...

Aaah so pleased with your Klezmer effort, whilst I DO NOT really know if it was appreciated I suspect just by making this effort regardless of prowess it must have been. Really pleased about this news!

I've got a sneaky feeling (excuse the New Zealand band name pun, although I assume you have not heard of them), that you may indeed like some of The Tall Dwarfs music, especially their earlier material. It's kind of eclectic home recording style pop, without much pop.

I have this stuff on vinyl & one day, like original vinyl 'Pirates Choice' album I will get this your way.

Yes, I REALLY have been to Germany - twice in fact.

Once was about 1984 when I was travelling the world as a youngster & was based in London for approx 18months+. The other time was 1998 when I was visiting my sister in London; she is married & lives there.

As for your above questions they may have to wait until I send an email your way. Suffice to say the product business stems from all Sex Pistols albums. Just I have changed it around a little.

I'll tell you why via email, but those who know me outside of bloggerland recognise this quite readily.

Aside from anything it's an insignia I've used since late teens days when I made mixed tapes for friends, which were always recorded on 'Imperial Bedroom Records', another of my long standing logos.

Full details for you later...oh am d'loading Redd now; title gives little away. I can only think of Kletka Red, but that only has one 'r'.

Hombre...Salut

Perfect for late at night. Superb Blue Note bop. I don't own this one myself, but I have a fair bit of 'late night' jazz on vinyl.

Have often wondered about this one, I used to see it about in the old vinyl days. This I believe is supposed to be his 'classic' album, but I must say am not very up to date with his more recent material.

Like it muchly & am listening as I type away...

Dank Herr Orang!

MoogPower, I think you are in dreamland right now - it's a quarter past 5 in the evening here, in the old world.
Sometime I'm crazying a little bit too much, I'm sorry if I get you dizzy or anything. It's good to have such nice and thoughtful communication via the blogs, but we don't know each other really, don't we?
You say I surprise you - well, before I've seen your bird post I just thought you made a birdy background, html-like. You surprised me, but quite happily. One who gets pleasure from photographing birds must be a 'good' one - though he sits much too much in front of this electric machine, like myself. It's kinda druglike, well ... communication via e-mail would be better here ...

Salute, mon frère!
Bonjour to dog and son!
A big hello to the birdies' morning songs!

Thanks for the Freddie Redd music, Orang. MoogPower has one of the most interesting comment sections, when I stop to look it over. Such a great collection of bloggers -- it is nice to "overhear" your conversations.
We're having our first Canadian winter storm around the great lakes region, a month early, so this music is most welcome. I'm in front of my computer far too much, but it feels like a window on the real world when there are no real people with shared interests to talk to.
Love this blog and others related to jazz and progressive/psychedelic era.

Aaaah Savoadaki you are in Canada...I had just responded to you in an above post, but was not sure where you were; I had guessed somewhere in Europe.

Hhmmm, A far cry from Adelaide. *lol*
