Mutiny 'Aftershock 2005'
Mutiny
Aftershock 2005

Carrying on with the Bill Laswell theme, (although in a minor way here), Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey is the one time drummer with P-Funk, aswell as found on other projects by Bill Laswell, Lucky Peterson, Jah Wobble, Pharaoh Sanders James Blood Ulmer & even Snoop Dog; just to mention a few. He also wrote the 1976 legendary track 'Tear the roof off the sucker' (Mothership Connection).
Funk rock with a rock/pseudo metal feel this is an ok effort, but for those into this kind of funk rock/crossover should look more closely at the Laswell produced O. G. Funk posted a few months ago, which I believe is a far more solid effort.
Bill Laswell is credited here as 'executive producer & psycho analysis', Robert Musso, (who should never be overlooked), typically as engineer & also production, whilst Nicky Skopelitis Can be heard on guitar (trk 2). Desires (trk 8) is notably inspired by Eddie Hazel. Vocal duties are shared around, but more often left in the hands of Fashe Forde. I can't really fault the drumming of "Bigfoot", but maybe his songwriting talents aren't quite up there with his drumming skill. Just out of interest Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey was inducted into the rock & roll Hall of Fame in the late 90's.

If you want this album please see your local music store & order as required, this & other albums by Mutiny.
In so far as Bill Laswell is concerned I think (but can't say with 100% surety), that this will be my last related post for a little bit at least. I'm not quite sure what a little bit actually means in terms of time, but I'd like to post some other stuff. Actually, tonight I had intended to post some funk, but it just so happened that Mr Laswell appeared here also. Hmmmm, what doesn't he have a hand in? I can't reall anything related to classical, but then again with some of his World Music type projects, they too might be considered classical. The man is so prolific he's turned into a serious monster!
By the by...I've been kinda busy over the weekend, so for all those who made comments they are very much appreciated (& have been read) & I will get back to you all shortly. I had a choice this evening to answer comments (which I enjoy being a part of) or post something. I suspect that a new post is more important for most. Cheers!!
***Note: Mr Moodswings Stefan has added another P- Funk related Laswell project to the mix (Limbomaniacs). Please see comments for info regarding this release. All thanks to goes out to Stefan.

Aaaah cool...so pleased to hear this xclnt report.
Cheers to you Dylan.
Thanks for this one, MoogPower! Always room for one more...
About Laswell doing classical, there is this:
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00004SR1V/701-7002707-6044358?v=glance&n=916514
LOL!
Oh NO Milton is there no end to what this guy has a hand in?
What's worse looking at the link it could be rather interesting despite the mixed reviews. Seems it's either one you really dig or otherwise dislike with a passion!
Cheers.
I had a brief listen at a record store when it was released. My superficial impression was that I didn't need to buy it. (I do like classical music, though) I can't afford to buy everything, you know! I chose the Cuban set instead that day.
Cheers, Moog!
I get ya...nope well who can afford to buy everything & that's such a problem for me!
Still it's sparked my attention & who knows what will become of it (for me) in the future.
Thanks Milton.
More Laswell oriented music ? here it comes !!!

With the Red Hot Chili Peppers' ascension in the 1980s, it became downright fashionable in "alternative rock" circles to combine rock and funk. One of the better funk-rock releases of the early '90s was the Limbomaniacs' Stinky Grooves, an inspired fusion of P-Funk, Washington D.C.-style go-go, rap and hard rock/heavy metal. Drawing on influences ranging from Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix to Parliament/Funkadelic to Trouble Funk to Public Enemy and Run-D.M.C., the sweaty, intense band is much more individualistic and recognizable than many of its peers. Though the Limbomaniacs sometimes employ sampling, they do so sparingly and are far more reliant on "real instruments" than technology. Bootsy Collins and Maceo Parker appears as distingushed guests on Stinky Grooves, a CD that should have enjoyed much recognition, but sadly, was all but ignored. Produced by Bill Laswell. and keep up the good work !
Hey Stefan - I overlooked that one myself. Thanks a lot for sharing!
WoW Stefan...likewise, can't say I know that one either? Where have I been, 'cause I am a bit of a P-Funk junky.
Thank you Stefan - inspirational. :)
Cheers!!!
you're welcome...
I've got Slave Master "Under the 6" ( http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:6b6tk6sxqkrk ) & Zillatron "Lord of the Harvest" ( http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:2tkpu3lhan4k ) too. If you want it, I can upload...
Hey Stefan,
Aaah now Zillatron "Lord of the Harvest" DOES definitely interest me, whereas Slave Master I have, but am not really a big fan of (unfortunately). However, it is the thought that counts & that's really what matters!
I once had "Lord of the Harvest", but when I moved house some of my music went missing & that was one that got away. I really liked Bootsy's wild 'space' bass playing & his vocals are quite xclnt too.
Whenever you get an opportunity that would be great.
Cheers mate!
Oh, BTW Stefan if you like that kind of stuff you might also like Big Chief posted a few below & of course O.G. Funk (Laswell produced & P-Funk related) posted way back in the beginning here, but I think is still alive.
well, I have the big chief and a couple more by them (even saw them live and did an interview) and I have the O.G. Funk too... so you weren't wrong (though I haven't been listening to any of these for years)...
and the Zillatron link will be coming later tonight... enjoy ! :-))
check out my blog!
Cool mate will do...
As for those albums I haven't really listened for some time either. However, O.G. Funk tends to come out from time to time.
I also have 'Platinum Jive', the Big Chief album that came after 'Mack avenue'...Nowhere near good (unfortunately).
I've heard this one too...
btw, more Laswell:, I've got this Automaton album, "Dub Terror Exhaust" also Material's best album, imo, "Hallucination Engine" & his Bob Marley remixes compilation ("Dreams of Freedom")... let me know if there's anything you fancy...
Cheers Stefan...I have Dreams of Freedom & Hallucination Engine, but DO NOT have Dub Terror Exhaust; that sounds interesting. :)
I posted over at Hearwax's 'reggae' place Panthalassa Miles Davis remixes that was alive recently, but he seems to have closed his door in the past few days. I might see if I have the original links for that.
Also I posted Praxis 'Transmutation' at Pax's place in early April (I think) & that is still alive if you need any of those?
I've got a few others here, not including those on vinyl, but I've just had my Laswell 'binge' for a while.
See ya!!
the Miles Davis remixes would be nice (I already have the Praxis)...
and I'll post the Automaton asap!
NO...no need to do it asap, just when you are ready.
I'll check out to see if I've still kept the links, otherwise I might repeat the effort here or maybe I might ask him if he's kept notes of the links. Anyhow will get back to ya mate.
Au Revior!
well, ready I was. It's on my page. Automaton plus a lil' extra !
I posted this a while back, and just checked the link. This is the EP with different mixes than the Panthalassa album.

Big propz 4 sharing this good p-funk! But can't found the PW for Mutiny...
I can't stand!
Please, what is the PW
I'm very very sorry, i founf the pass
THANX anyway !
hello i cant find the PW
thanks in adwance
hi, I'm not convinced that this album is a perfect one for Mutiny. Jerome Brailey & his band had some other at the end of the 70's ("Mutiny on the mamaship", "Funk plus the one") which breathes more P-Funk than this.
If you dig this one, "Blacktronic Science" and "The Other Side-Pieces Of Woo" by Bernie Worrell might be of interest
Hi Friend Electric...yes agreed this is not thier best album, but as per review I don't really rate this album all that highly.
I do have Blacktronic Science, but not The Other Side Pieces of Woo (unfortunately).
Cheers!
hi moogpower,
I will open my vaults on this blog:
http://friendselectric.blogspot.com
and come up with some rare P-Funk oder
P-Funk related and some other stuff.
I would be thankful if you put me on your link list ;)
friendelectric
G'day friendelectric,
Happy to meet you. Will check into to your blog in the upcoming days, been struggling for time here of late.
Thank you!
Can someone please reupload this one? I'm very interested in the style of this release - I don't want to make a blind purchase.
