JACK RUBY 'Hi Fi'

JACK RUBY
Hi Fi

Jack Ruby was the man behind one of Jamaica's biggest soundsystem in the late 70's/80's, despite being based outside Kingston for most of his career. His work always considered to have exceptional character & was responsible for getting performers like Ken Boothe and Delroy Wilson heard by a wider audience, all before he finally got behind the desk and started producing some killer material. This was always characterised by the highest quality musicians such as Tommy Mcook, Earl 'Chinna' Smith, Robbie Shakespeare, Bobby Ellis, Bernard Harvey,
Aston 'Family Man' Barrett & loads more.

According to the liner notes: "Ruby's sound system was consistently one of Jamaica's greatest & at one point, it was probably the most powerful of all, thanks to the custom-built amplifier made by Lloyd 'The Matador' Daley, featuring no less than forty KT88 valves. It eventually became so big that it could only be transported on a massive Leyland truck." Sheez...and I thought I was doing well with my old amp which had just 2 KT88 valves, (I just love that warm valve sound).

This is an excellent example of his work, that otherwise has been almost hidden (long out of print) for way too long. It's one of those releases you kind of think is too short, as you are left wanting to hear more!

*Originally released as
Clappers LP, 1981.
*Recorded at Jack Ruby's Studios, Ocho Rios, JA. January 1, 1980.

*Mixed at King Tubby's Studios, Kingston, JA. (By Jack Ruby)

Wow, MoogPower, what a share! I really appreciate this record, even if it blows my speakers. Great!

If you are interested in the Jack Ruby foundation soundtape that I posted on April, 27, 2006 (link is dead), I can re-up it for you.

Greetings

G'day Zero...well if it doesn't blow your speakers you are not playing it correctly. :)

Thanks for the offer Zero, but I don't think you need to go that far, however the thought is appreciated.

I figure with these type of things you may get some & you might just miss some. I'm sure in the future you'll be posting some 'crucial' stuff!

Cheers to you mate

Hey 'anon' (Terry), please remember the p/w is case sensitive; i.e you do need capital 'M' & capital 'P' just as written.

If this doesn't work I can only think that you have a corrupt d'load. I know both Dub Dentist & Zero G who seemed to have no issues uncompressing, so you might need to check the size of your file to confirm.

It should be ~51mb.
