Enrico Rava/Dino Saluzzi Quintet 'Volver'

Enrico Rava/Dino Saluzzi
Volver (ECM 1343, 1988)

I thought on the back of the accordian assault of my previous post, I'd present a little bandoneon music.
I'm more of a fan of Dino Saluzzi (Bandoneon), than Enrico Rava (Trumpet) whom I'm not overly familar with, but happens to appear on the first 'Saluzzi' album I ever bought. I would not say this is his greatest album, but I recall being rather transfixed with the 3rd track in particular Lunar-Volver, which got me to buy it at the time. It's quite a slow & atmospheric track that sounds as if it has much sorrowful meaning. A relatively low key album, but still has its moments of beauty. BTW - this is jazz!

You can order this album online direct from the label.

Enrico Rava: trumpet
Dino Saluzzi: bandoneon
Harry Pepl: guitar
Furio Di Castri: bass
Bruce Ditmas: drums

It's a pity you're not familiar with Enrico Rava's works: the best in my opinion are the 4 ECM LPs recorded in the '70s (my favourite is "The pilgrim and the stars"), and the last 2, after his return to ECM: "Easy Living" and "Tati".
Bye

Lorenzo

P.S:: I've got about 20 Rava's CDs...

Thank you Telcos for your comments...& Hey Lorenzo, I shouldn't really say that I know nothing about Rava, more this post was about Saluzzi whom I really like.

I don't know Easy Living at all, but Tati I do, I do not own it nor can I remember what is was like other than I do know it?

Will look out for The pilgrim & the stars as per your suggestion. Thank you!!!

Ciao.
