He Has Left Us Alone But Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corners of Our Rooms
Essentially a side project by members of Godspeed You Black Emperor! this is typical of much of the Montreal Constellation Records post-rock sound. Similar to Godspeed, but a little more docile with a stripped back approach & unusually a few vocal 'fragments' are added to the mix. This was ASMZ first release (2000); haunting & emotional, yet still undoubtedly beautiful. Driven by strings & loops whilst other instruments fill out the tracks adding interest amidst a sea of generally minor chords.

It is a rather fascinating piece of music, although with multiple song titles the band might have you think these are seperate tracks, but to me they seem to form one single piece of music. Without doubt these are a talented group of artists who deserve to have greater recognition!
